About

Laura Roy is a Canadian artist and Grammy-nominated songwriter whose journey from rural Nova Scotia to the worldโ€™s largest stages reflects a continually evolving artistic vision. Growing up on the East Coast, she developed a deep connection to storytelling through music, a foundation that shapes her sound as she blends contemporary folk, R&B, and alternative pop with her distinctive expressive vocals. Based between the UK and Canada, Laura has toured globally as a backing vocalist with international artists, experiences that expanded her musical perspective and sharpened her skills as a professional performer. She has performed at Londonโ€™s Wembley Arena multiple times, most notably with pop star Sabrina Carpenter and sharing the stage with Dua Lipa. Recently, she returned to Nova Scotia to record her debut full-length album, an intentional homecoming that reconnects her with the landscapes and communities that shaped her early years. This new project represents her most personal and expansive work yet, capturing the intimacy of her East Coast roots alongside the breadth of her global experiences. A two-time East Coast Music Award winner, Laura first emerged with her EPs Forte, Tides, and Odyssey, each charting a distinct evolution in her artistry. Her contributions to Doja Catโ€™s Planet Her, specifically the song โ€œAlone,โ€ earned her a Grammy nomination, establishing her as a sought-after songwriter with a rare combination of emotional depth and lyrical insight. In 2026, Laura continued to expand her artistry as a Musician in Residence at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, further solidifying her reputation as one of Canadaโ€™s most compelling emerging voices. With each release, she carved out a unique space defined by expressive lyricism, immersive storytelling, and an unwavering commitment to artistic authenticity.
